The shots went really well! She cried of course and was quite angry about the needle pricks, but all in all it went fine. She nursed, then fell asleep, woke up, and went about her night as usual!
She's in the 90th percentile for weight, and 97th for height, big healthy girl! The nurse was telling us of the risks to little babies with siblings at this age; being pulled off a bed or out of her swing because they want to help and hold their sibling (check! well Maya has tried), trying to feed their siblings something they shouldn't have (check! Maya tried feeding Julia sesame seed bagel yesterday), and siblings throwing stuff into the babies crib. At which point we said well, Julia is co-slept, so we have to worry more about her sister rolling over on her...I mean, um...oops? The nurse just laughed though so it's all good, child protective services won't be visiting any time soon!

More on the girls
The girls are doing awesome, and I'm enjoying having lots of time as a family as Ian has been on vacation. We went camping out to Cypress Hills, which I'll blog on later when we get our pics done. Today we went shopping as we had some gc's to spend for the Gap, got the kids some really cute clothes! Maya had a lot of fun shopping, she kept grabbing clothes everywhere from off the racks and going "Mommy, cuuuute!" "Mommy, shirt, look! Cuuuuuute!" She's so wee, I have to come to terms with the fact that we'll be buying her 18-24 pants for a long time as she is so skinny in the waist. Yep, she's a mini-me all right! She was being all sweet, trying on hats with Ian, and all of a sudden she turned into crazy Maya and started trying to "eat" Ian, fake biting and growling and going "I EAT YOU!!!!" which she does all the time. I'm sure the people in the store though she was nuts!
Later we were watching the Olympics, and the women's marathon was on. Maya calls running "gogogo" so she was pointing at the screen and going "gogogo!" I'm like Maya, they're running! Can you say running? Although gogogo is pretty cute too. Then the men's swimming came on and she freaked RIGHT out! I'd been showing her how to "swim" waving her arms. So she was standing in the living room going "swimming! swimming!" and waving her arms around, naked no less because it was a hot day and she'd been in her wading pool earlier.
Julia is so freaking cute these days too, she is definitely out of the newborn phase, MAN two months goes fast! Her first shots are on Friday, insert quivering sad mommy lip here. My poor little girl. :( She is chatting SO much these days, and smiling. Lots of cooing, gurgling, smiling. She just loves the face time with anyone she can get it with! She's also better at putting herself to sleep than Maya ever was, so far anyways. Knock on wood that continues!

Man, I knew she was tiny but...
Ian accidentally put Julia's shorts on Maya after he changed miss M's diaper. And they FIT. He had no idea they weren't hers until I told him! They looked pretty darned good too. I was looking up size charts for Gymboree to order some stuff from Ebay, according to her waist measurements the site said she should be in a 3-6 size pant, well guess that proves it! Julia is already in size 3-6 month, at 7 weeks. Growing so fast!
Been a bit of a rough go around here as of late, Maya is giving my sanity a run for it's money. May blog more about it later if I feel like it, maybe not. I think she's cutting out her naps too, WAH.

Naptime?
We put Maya down for a nap today around 12:30, then had to repeatedly go in and check on her when she wasn't sleeping. She finally quieted around 2 o'clock and we figured she was asleep until I heard a big from her through the monitor in the basement, so Ian went to check on her. Few minutes later I hear Ian:
"Yeah, I dunno what your daughter was doing. When i found her she had her feet in the sink, and the toothpaste tube in one hand, putting toothpaste on the mirror. Her feet are pruny from the sink, she has no pants or diaper on and her shirt is soaked to the armpits. I think she tried to get in the shower because the shower door is open. Yeah, I dunno what goes through this kids head."
Me neither daddy, me neither!

Eating with Maya is always fun
I think eating was tiring her out today, she was trying to lean her head on her fork while eating macaroni and cheese, resulting in her head bobbing up and down to the bowl with the fork as she was stabbing the noodles! She looked at me laughing at her and broke into a huge smile. :)

You had to be there...

This may not be as funny if you weren't there, but last night I went upstairs to check on Maya after we had a door to door solicitor at 8:51 (oh the rage!) that I thought may have woken Maya. She wasn't in her bed when I peeked, so I looked in our bed, not there, looked in Julia's crib, not there, not in the hardwood room either. So as i'm standing there scratching my head, i figure I should look further into our room and check our bathroom. There she is, standing on the stool by the sink, holding my eye make up removal pads in one hand, and carefully placing them on the counter with the other hand very carefully, the way you'd lay cards down on a table! They were all over the counter! She looks at me and goes "Hi Mommy! I nap!" and she was SO proud of herself. The cat came around the corner, and she gasped a little, got excited and cocked her head a little and went "Hi kitty!!" I couldn't stop laughing, I was almost gasping for breath because she was just cracking me up. My nutty kid! Earlier that night we had been playing with the match game that Shelley gave her for her birthday, I think she pulled the idea from there. I hustled her off to bed, and this time she stayed, hah.
These days she's started to put together "I" with a verb, or something she makes into a verb. "I sleep? Nap? Soo?" (soo=soother)
We traced our bodies out with chalk on the patio out back tonight, one with Maya's little body, another with Julia's, and I tried to show Maya how to do mine. She seemed like she got the hang of it and was tracing my body, then all of a sudden she veered off and started doodling. She makes the funniest concentrating noise, just a really loud "UHHHHHHHH" monotone drone. So she was doing that and doodling while I was laying on the concrete trying to get her to trace me!
And I swear, I swear Julia laughed today! Ah what a sweetie. I can't believe she's 6 weeks!
